OUR SERVICES

STRATEGIC MEP CONSULTING

An understanding of fault tolerance and a mind-set that strives for zero downtime in mission critical environment is essential. The reliability of critical system is enhanced by strategic planning to identify the risks and potential failure modes. DSCO will implement processes that reduce the probability of system failures in order to increase system reliability.

The services include:

  • Feasibility Study
  • Single Point of Failure Study
  • Peer Review
  • Due Diligence
  • Value Engineering
  • Facility Audit
CRITICAL SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

The critical IT facility is the backbone of today’s enterprise. A critical system is any system whose “failure” would have major impact on the organisation’s business. DSCO has the experience to provide mission critical solutions for Clients. Projects range from corporate Data Centres, web hosting, co-location facilities, disaster recovery centres, trading floor for banks, point of presence sites, digital transfer installations, network operations centres and call centres. Often the cost of the failure in a critical system is likely to exceed the cost of the system itself.

The Criticality attributes of the system include:

  • Reliability
  • Operability
  • Availability
  • Maintainability
  • Safety
  • Security
INTEGRATED ASSURANCE

The design and construction of a new facility may take months or a few years; however this is relatively insignificant over the whole life cycle of the facility. Therefore having a long term understanding of the way the facility will operate, be maintained, cater for equipment replacement, how it handles technology refreshes, staffing levels required to operate the facility and running costs are significant considerations of the initial facility design. Integrated Assurance takes these factors into consideration to ensure that the facility and FM teams are involved throughout the project stages, are prepared and well trained to take over the operations and maintenance.

As a critical facility, the culture of critical awareness and care has to be part of the DNA of the operations and business teams. This is reinforced by having in place clearly defined written procedures on how to handle emergencies, routine maintenance and standard operations, regular audits and checks, failure analysis, contracts with SLAs for support vendors and outsourced contractors and health checks to continually monitor the performance of the systems. DSCO offers a complete suite of activities that are designed to improve your facilities/infrastructure’s resiliency and efficiency. Integrated Assurance Methodology (RISK):

  • Review existing operations & procedures
  • Identify areas of enhancements
  • Systematic enhancements/ correction
  • Knowledge transfer through training

We believe that operational enhancements is a continuous journey where a vendor-independent trusted partner can provide guidance and solutions.

INTEGRATED SYSTEM TESTING

Integrated Systems Testing is carried out prior to handover of the facility to ensure that all the systems operate in accordance with the design intent. It is the final test which determines if the design, equipment selection and construction meet the performance expectations. In almost all cases, critical facilities are not fully populated at handover of the project; therefore in order to test the system, the design assumptions based on full load and all possible failure scenarios are simulated.

DSCO has developed a test methodology which includes cause and effects analysis, documented script, dry run and finally the IST. This method of testing enables the engineer to verify with a high degree of certainty the following:

  • Systems are functionally integrated;
  • Systems communicate properly when faults occur;
  • Systems continue to operate as planned in a crisis;
  • Weakest links in the system;
  • System can be operated reliably.
ATD UPTIME INSTITUTE

DSCO has a number of engineers who are Uptime Certified Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) and have completed a number of Tier III and Tier IV Design and Constructed facility certifications throughout South East Asia, North East Asia and India. In the journey to achieving Uptime Institute’s Design Documents Certification, DSCO provides our clients with a better understanding of Uptime’s Criteria and feedback; full support for design preparation, design approval and implementation.

Based on the approved drawings, we will work with suppliers and contractors to ensure that the completed facility is in accordance with the certified design. Further, DSCO will then conduct the demonstration tests to verify to Uptime that the facility meets the Tier Certification of Constructed Facility (TCCF).

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

DSCO has completed a number of projects that have achieved Environmental Ratings and Certifications (e.g. BCA Green Mark Scheme, USGBC LEED etc.) for a variety of offices and buildings.

We ensure that all criteria in achieving the certifications are incorporated in the design consideration, guide the respective consultants in developing the contract drawings and specifications and coordinate with the respective third party verification firm in regards to the compilation, review and submission for all relevant and required documents.

MEP BIM DESIGN

The MEP BIM Model is created from the Architectural BIM Model and serves to transform the building and construction industry in improving productivity, integration and collaboration across the various disciplines. The Model encompasses four MEP sub-disciplines:

  • Air-conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV) Services
  • Plumbing and Sanitary Services
  • Fire Protection Services
  • Electrical Services

The BIM Models allow for better information flows between architects, engineers, owners and technical specialists for more joined-up working in teams across regions. The designs and changes are more efficient with optimised layouts. In tight spaces, the coordination and planning is to ensure the spaces are improved for constructability and operations.

BUILDING SERVICES CONSULTANCY

DSCO offers multi-disciplined engineering services including Electrical, Mechanical, Vertical Transportation, HVAC, Fire Protection, Building Management System, Plumbing and Drainage. DSCO provides base building infrastructure design of high rise commercial and residential mixed-use buildings.
